Catherine Marie Cannon, 59, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Mercy Iowa City following a sudden illness.
The family will greet friends and celebrate Cathy's life from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 17, at the Kirkwood Room (next to Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City).
In lieu of flowers, an educational fund will be established for her granddaughter, Zoey.
Cathy was born May 12, 1957, in Iowa City, the daughter of William "Bill" and Wilma Schrock Cannon Jr. Cathy was a graduate of City High School and received her bachelor's degree in economics from North Idaho College. Cathy also attended Gonzaga College.
Cathy was an adventurous spirit. She loved to travel and was looking forward to a trip to the Vermont store. She volunteered at the Crisis Center.
Most important to Cathy was her family. Her granddaughter, Zoey, was the light of her life.
Survivors include her daughters, Veronica (Matt) Bolinger and Victoria Shimon, both of Iowa City; her granddaughter, Zoey Bolinger; her mother, Wilma Cannon of West Branch; three siblings, Tom (Julie) Cannon of Cedar Valley, Mark (Jenny) Cannon of Solon and Jackie (Marco) Perez of Coralville; nieces, nephews and extended family.
Cathy was preceded in death by her father.
