Casper Ilsley Robinson, 89, of Anamosa, formerly of Mechanicsville, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Wilton Retirement Community in Wilton, which was his home since January 2015. Casper's request was to be cremated with no services. A memorial fund has been created to honor his memory and he requested Camp Courageous be the recipient.

Casper and his twin brother, Calvin, were born Oct. 19, 1927, on the family farm, the son of William and Edith Ilsley Robinson. He attended Hazel Hill Country School through the sixth grade and then graduated from Mechanicsville High School with the Class of 1946 as valedictorian. On May 28, 1948, Casper was united in marriage to Geralene Coppess of Stanwood in the chapel of the Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsville.
Casper was a lifelong farmer and cattleman. He was a member of Mechanicsville United Methodist Church, Jones County Cattlemen, Iowa Cattlemen's Association, National Cattlemen's Association, Farm Bureau and Lions Club. He served on the ICA Board as district director and state and national cattlemen committees. He was inducted into the Jones County Cattlemen Hall of Fame in 2001.
Casper retired from farming in the fall of 1992 and moved from the family Century Farm near Mechanicsville to Anamosa in 1993. Casper spent his final years at Wilton Retirement Community. The family is very grateful for the care he received there.
Casper is survived by his wife of 69 years, Geralene, who resides in Tipton; three sons, Wayne and wife, Donna, Carl and wife, Cheryl, and David and wife, Debra, all of Mechanicsville; six grandchildren, Kim Decker, Tara Grosbach, Mike Robinson, Randy Robinson, Adrienne Driscoll and Holly Robinson; 15 great-grandchildren; his brother, Victor and wife, Mary Jean Robinson, and his twin brother, Calvin and wife, Francis Robinson, both of Mechanicsville; sister, Corrine Betcher of Davenport; brothers-in-law, Lee and wife, Joyce Coppess of Stanwood and Larry and wife, Marlene Coppess of Clarence; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Harlan and Erhmal Coppess; brothers, Quentin, Navis and Gorman; brother-in-law, Marvin Betcher; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Robinson, Jenny Robinson and Fay Robinson.
