Carson, Michael Robert

Michael Robert Carson, 56, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, June 17, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center. Memorial services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Inurnment, with military rites: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his children, Travis Alexander, Saraina (Cody) Behrens and Nathan Carson; his parents, Robert and Janice Carson; siblings, Ronald (Jane) Carson, Michael S. (Christa) Carson, Mark (Julie) Carson, Joni Carson, Tim (Lisa) Carson, Sandy Jean Woodruff, Gary Joerger, Doug Joerger, Rick Joerger and Terry Meyers; sister-in-law, Jane Carson; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosella Joerger; and a brother, Daniel Carson.

Born June 7, 1955, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Robert and Rosella (Kelly) Carson, he served in the United States Marine Corps from 1972 to 1976 and was a longtime manager at the Double Inn. He was united in marriage to Rebecca Kerr on Sept. 8, 1979, and to this marriage twins were born. They later divorced.

Michael enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards with friends and being with his kids. He had a very unique sense of humor.

Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
