Carrothers, Maude Ward
Maude Ward Carrothers, 96, of 2222 1st Ave NE, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2009, in Heritage Nursing & Rehab. Funeral mass: 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthew Catholic Church by the Rev. Mark Osterhaus. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. A Vigil service will be held at 7 p.m.
Survivors include a daughter, Roberta Marie Saunders and husband, Phillip of Cedar Rapids; a son, Dale Carrothers and wife, Margaret Frances of Fairfax; a sister, Marguerite Foster of Fort Myers, Fla.; her grandchildren, Thomas and James Saunders, Michael, and Patrick and Kelly Carrothers; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Regan Saunders, and Sean Patrick Carrothers.
Her parents; husband, Victor; daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Carrothers; and her siblings preceded her in death.
Maude was born Aug. 10, 1913, in Parnell, the daughter of Martin and Ellen Carrol Ward. She married Victor Temple Carrothers on June 26, 1938, in Dubuque. Maude worked for Quaker Oats and then for Wilson's Food as a meat trimmer for 25 years. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. Her loved her family and was a great cook.
