Carroll J. Miner, 86, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, passed away May 17, 2023, at Belle Plaine Specialty Care, Belle Plaine, with his family by his side.
A funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, at Springs of Life Church, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with Pastor Deb Munson officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine. Visitation is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday

Carroll James Miner was born Oct. 24, 1936, in rural Luzerne, Iowa, the son of Bernard and Lela (Shore) Miner. He graduated from Belle Plaine High School, the class of 1955. Following school, he worked for the Belle Plaine school system. On Nov. 27, 1957, Carroll married Kathryn Mae Hoover at Bethany Evangelical United Brethren Church. Together they lived in Belle Plaine until Carroll was drafted in to the U.S. Army. Following his military service, Carroll and Kathryn moved to Colorado to be near family. Carroll worked for Boulder Valley School District, Boulder, Colo., where he retired after 35 years. In 1997 Kathryn and Carroll moved back to Belle Plaine. With Kathryn’s decorating skills and Carroll’s knowledge of the trades together they fixed up their Victorian home in Belle Plaine.
Carroll was an avid Denver Broncos fan. He was known as being a kind and gentle man who would give the shirt off his back.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn M. Miner of Belle Plaine; sons, David (Kayla) Miner of Cedar Rapids, Timothy (Tammy) Miner of Longmont, Colo., and Bob (Amy) Miner of Longmont, Colo.; grandchildren, Rebecca (Drew), Renee (Bobby) and Jake (Becca); eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sally Miner; and many more loving family and friends.
Carroll was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Sarah Marie Miner; granddaughter, Adeline Miner; brother, Leland Miner; and sister, Betty Macku.
