Carr, Mardene Alice

Mardene Alice Carr, 78, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Per her request, her body has been donated to science.

Mardene was born Feb. 7, 1935, to Loren and Kathryn (nee Graham) in Iowa City. She grew up in Vinton, Iowa, graduating from Vinton High School in 1953. Mardene was employed at Rockwell Collins for many years before retiring in 1995. During her retirement years she enjoyed working in her flower beds and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also worked for several years at Collins Road Hy-Vee.

She is survived by a daughter, Kelly Gordon, and a son, Mark (Shirley) Schultz, both of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Bridget (Matt) Rinderknecht, Jill (Jason) Meyer and Alexis Gordon; two stepdaughters, Jackie (John) Fillenworth and Renee (Dixon) Cheal; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Wayne, Jim, Jack and Dean Roster.

She will be missed by all.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
