Carr, Billie
BILLIE J. CARR
Maquoketa
Billie J. Carr, 85, of Maquoketa, formerly of
Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at Jack-
son County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa. Friends and family may gather for "One Last Party" in remembrance of Billie on Saturday, Jan. 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. in "The Bistro" at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Cremation has taken place.
Billie Jane Carr was born Oct. 6, 1928, in Parsons, Kan., to John and Lillian (Jones) Bocklett. She grew up in Kansas and graduated from high school. She then worked as a dancer and did modeling for several years before her marriage to Jerry Carr in Kansas City, Kan. After 22 years of marriage they divorced.
Billie was a homemaker and raised a family. She then worked in the kitchen at Pierce Elementary School in Cedar Rapids and later worked manufacturing jobs. In 1980, she moved to Florida until 2000, when she returned to the Midwest and settled in Maquoketa. Billie loved
music and dancing. She had been a member of the Sweet Adelines Dance Group in Cedar Rapids as well as a member of several quartets. After she could no longer dance, she really enjoyed watching television.
Those left to honor Billie's memory include her children, Michael Carr of Cedar Rapids, Jack (Penny) Carr of Arkansas, Tony (Judy) Carr of Maquoketa, Kitty (Tom) Zink of Florida and Stacy Carr of Florida; 20 grandchildren and
numerous great-grand-children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Billie J. Carr Memorial Fund has been established.
