Carpenter, Leonore Mae Bruce
Leonore Mae Bruce Carpenter, 70, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday evening, Sept. 25, 2012, at her home. Services: 2 p.m. Monday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE, by Pastor Mike Townsley, Clover Ridge United Methodist Church, Walford. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Leonore is survived by three children, Donald R. (Lori Barnett) Bruce, Rose (Bruce) Gordon and husband Kenny and Cindy L. (Carpenter) Rupe and husband Randy, all of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Ethel Pearson and husband Doug, Texas City, Texas, and Virginia Smith, Houston, Texas; nine grandchildren, Justin Bruce, Nathan McBurney, Melissa (Brad) McNeese, Donald J. Bruce, James Carpenter, Ashley Barr, Aana Barr, Rodney Dennis and Sean Wilcox; 13 great-grandchildren; and close family and friends, Dale (Chris) McBurney, Steve (Patti) Etheredge, Charles Lane II, Dennis Thomas, Harold (Lynn) Bruce, Nancy Randall, Shirley Shriver, Mickey Daniel, Deb Washburn and Robert and Gidget Soukup.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald L. Bruce and Howard E. Carpenter; daughter, Laura Mae (Bruce) Etheredge; sister, Madonna Michalek; and brother, Robert Randall.
Leonore was born Nov. 8, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Roy H. and Bernice (Stribbling) Randall. She was a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids. Leonore had been employed as a housekeeper at Mercy Medical Center for 16 years before retiring in 1996.
