Carpenter, Florence
Florence Carpenter, 95, of Strawberry Point, died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, at the United Methodist Church in Strawberry Point, with Pastor Randy Moser officiating. Burial will be in Strawberry Point Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 3 to 7 p.m. at Roberson Funeral Home in Strawberry Point.
Florence Carpenter was born March 5, 1916, at the home of her parents, Ernest and Lizzie (Handel) Kellogg. She attended country school and graduated from Strawberry Point High School in 1934. She then taught country school in Cox Creek and Lodomillo townships for several years.
On June 4, 1938, she married Arthur Carpenter at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. To this union four children were born.
Florence is survived by Kay (Douglas) Sage, Rita (LaVerne) Jones, Wanda Batchelder and Ron (Deb Koch) Carpenter; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in law.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur (January 1988); and her grandson, Scott Sage (March 2008).
