Carolyn Ann Petersen, 83, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021, at UnityPoint St. Luke's in Cedar Rapids. Memorial graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 12, at Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona.
Carolyn was born Dec. 12, 1937, in rural Washington County to Lester "Bud" and Mabel Hartsock Speas. She married Richard "Tony" Petersen on Sept. 24, 1971, in Olin, Iowa. He passed away June 6, 2006.
Surviving Carolyn are her sons, Kevin (Chris) Koob of Tipton and Kenneth (Amy) Koob of Stanwood; stepdaughter, Deb (Steve) Heiken of Wyoming, Iowa; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson and brother Don.
Carolyn had a love for the Hawkeyes, Cubs, NASCAR and cats. She was a great wife and mother, enjoyed family gatherings and, in her early years, loved motorcycle trips with Tony.
