CAROLYN "LYNNE" PARSONS
Iowa City
Carolyn "Lynne" Parsons, 84, of Iowa City, passed away at Legacy Senior Living on Oct. 13, 2021.
A private graveside service will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Iowa City. A Celebration of Life gathering will take
place at a later date and will be held at The Kirkwood Room at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service.
Lynne was born on April 21, 1937, in
Iowa City, to Joseph and Florence (Wallace) Cilek. She married John "Red" Parsons on Feb. 4, 1961, and to this union, four children were born.
Lynne graduated from City High School in 1955 and then attended the University of Iowa and received her B.A. in 1960. She worked at the information desk at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics for over 25 years.
Lynne was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan and football season ticket holder. She loved her travels; particularly to San Diego, Calif., Hawaii and Florida and she loved staying "in the know" with her family and grandkids (especially while playing cards), and staying connected with her amazing network of friends.
Lynne is survived by her children, Laurie (David) Harre, Lisa (Rex) Wood, Michael (Deb) Parsons and Jeffrey Parsons; brothers, Robert "Jerry" Cilek and his spouse, Cheri and Tom (Mary) Cilek; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Red; and her two brothers, Joe and Jim.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Courageous or the Mercy Hospital Foundation and online condolences may be shared at www.lensingfuneral.com.
