Carolyn O. Gabrielson, 81, died on Feb. 1, 2018, at Manor Care Health Services in Cedar Rapids following a short illness.
Services and burial will be held at a later time in Dayton, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her memory to Mercy Hospice in Cedar Rapids. To share a thought, memory or condolence, please visit the funeral home website at www.gayandciha.com.
Carolyn was born to Ray and Alice (Eck) Gabrielson on Feb. 24, 1936. She grew up on the family farm in Dayton, Iowa, surrounded by her family, many friends and her beloved pets. She attended the Dayton schools. She was a longtime member of the Dayton United Methodist Church.
Carolyn lived at Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon, Iowa, for many years. In 2009 she moved to Irving Point Assisted Living in Cedar Rapids in order to be near her sisters. Carolyn enjoyed her life at Irving Point and appreciated both the residents and staff who were with her until her health failed late last year.
Carolyn is survived by her sisters, Sue Magee of Westminster, Calif., Marolyn Bogert of Marion, Iowa, and Sally Mathis Hartwig of Iowa City. She also is survived by her many nieces and nephews and their children.
