Carolyn B. Blair, 101, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, May 1, 2017, at Living Center East Nursing Home in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 5, at Kenwood Park United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Carolyn was born Dec. 19, 1915, in Robins, Iowa, to G. Robert and Selma (Quaas) Hagerman. She attended Marion High School (Class of 1933) and Lenox Junior College. Carolyn was united in marriage to Merl Blair on June 10, 1941, at Alburnett Methodist Church.
She was employed at Younkers department store for 31 years. Carolyn also taught sixth, seventh and eighth grade for the Viola school system. She was a member of Kenwood United Methodist Church, Younkers Retirees Group, a 4-H leader for 15 years and the church organist/pianist for 42 years. Carolyn was a devoted and wonderful wife, mother and grandmother whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Lois (Michael) Jones of Cedar Rapids; granddaughter, Michelle (John) Herbst of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Jeanette Maier of Marion; many nieces and nephews; and her two beloved cats.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merl Blair; a sister, Edith Lockwood; and a brother, Robert Hagerman.
