CAROLYN M. BITTNER

Carolyn M. Bittner, 75, of Marion, passed away Monday, April 4, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center following a lingering illness. A Celebration of Life is 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 8, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marion by Pastor Greg Williamson. The family will greet friends one hour before the service.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Ron of Marion; son, Eric (Sarah) Bittner of Houston, and their two sons, William and Edward; daughter, Melissa (James) Novitch of Cedar Rapids, and their two daughters, Elianna and Arabella; and sister, Joanna (Joe) Stanley of Decatur, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Charles.
Carolyn was born May 6, 1940, in Van Wert, Ohio, to Clyde and Merle (Shelton) Drake. She married Ronald Bittner. Carolyn served faithfully for 25 years as the church secretary for Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 915 27th St., Marion, IA 52302.
