Carolyn K. (Fencl) Beard, 49, of Gays Mills, Wis., formerly of Solon, died Monday, July 7, 2014, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 11, at First
Presbyterian Church near Ely. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Brosh Chapel in Solon is handling the arrangements.
Carolyn was born Oct. 22, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Joseph A. and Bonnie (Harris) Fencl. She graduated from Solon High School in 1983 and later attended Upper Iowa, studying art. Carolyn married Tedd Beard on April 12, 1985. Carolyn enjoyed sewing, gardening, drawing and spending time with her children and family.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Amanda Beard (Josh Schickedanz) of Sioux Falls, S.D., Austin (Ashley) Beard of Tiffin, Alyssa Beard (Nate Moore) of West Des Moines, Cody Kelly of Iowa City and Kaitlyn Goodenberger of Oregon; her father, Joe Fencl (Kathy Mackey) of Swisher; her mother, Bonnie Fencl of Solon; siblings, Mark (Melissa) Fencl of Ely, Peggy Stratton of Tiffin, Connie Fencl of Middle Amana and Jody (Katie) Fencl of West Des Moines; four grandchildren, Tyler, Paul, Peyton and Cooper; and her special companion, Kevin Corey of Gays Mills, and his children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and a twin brother and sister in infancy.
