Carole Lavonne Cherveny, 91, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 from 10-11 AM at the funeral home.
Lavonne was born on November 12, 1933, in rural Toledo, Iowa, the daughter of Lester and Wayma (Alexander) Beck.
She graduated from Toledo High School.
On April 14, 1957, she was united in marriage to Walter Roger Cherveny at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in rural Toledo. Lavonne was a homemaker and worked at the Tama County Recorder’s office for a short period of time. She loved gardening and canning the produce, and taking care of her lawn.
Survivors include three sons, Mike (Ann) Cherveny of Toledo, Steve (Cindy) Cherveny of Marshalltown, and Doug (Mary Jo) Cherveny of Toledo, nine grandchildren, Kendra (Curtis) Smith, Drake Cherveny (Calli Loshaw), Gabriel Cherveny, Erin Cherveny, Eric Cherveny, Derek (Meghan) Cherveny, Danielle (Bryan) Johnson, Destiny (Vincent) Hintermeister, and Daryn Cherveny; great-grandchildren, James, Jayden, Brookelynn, Scarlett, Patrick, Wyatt, Harper, Savannah, Dylan, Aubrey, Madison, and Ty; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Walter in 2007; one grandson, Dylan; three sisters, Lorna McCord, Ila Jean Bratton, and Sherry Lathrop; two brothers, Max Beck and Tim Beck.
The family would like to thank Sunny Hill Care Center for the excellent care they provided.
A memorial will be established.
