CAROLE L. LAFFERTY
Center Point
Carole L. Lafferty, 79, of Center Point, passed away Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. A visitation will
be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A private graveside service will follow the visitation at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Carole was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on March 26, 1942, the daughter of Kathryn A. Satterly and Chester L. Satterly. She graduated from Washington High School in 1960. She then went to Wartburg College, graduating with a teaching degree. Her first teaching job was in Plainfield, Iowa, for three years. She then went on to teach at Alburnett School System for 34 years, the majority of those years in Toddville School. Carole loved teaching and truly cared for and enjoyed her students. Carole married Ken Lafferty at St. Paul's Methodist Church on Dec. 28, 1969. 50 years ago, Carole and Ken bought an acreage outside of Center Point, built their home, and planted lots of trees. Carole and Ken loved gardening, mushrooming, raising horses, and enjoyed several very special German Shepherd dogs. Carole and Ken looked forward to visits from Ken's brother's family with their 13 kids. They all wanted their turn riding the horses.
Carole was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; father; mother; and stepson, Mike.
Carole is survived by sisters, Cheryl (Kevin) Schatzle and Cathy (Roger) Walker; brother, Clyde Satterly; and stepson, Steve (Tina) Lafferty. She has many nieces and nephews who were very important to her. Carole touched many lives and will be missed.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Cedar Valley Humane Society or Camp Courageous.
