La Porte City
Carole Anne Bobzien, 73, of La Porte City, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Porte City with Father Ray Atwood as celebrant. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, also at the church, with a rosary service concluding the visitation at 7 p.m. Interment will be in Westview Cemetery in La Porte City.
A memorial fund has been established.
Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of
arrangements.
Carole Anne was born June 7, 1941, at Waterloo, Iowa, to Harold and Violet K. Peters Brown. She graduated from La Porte City High School with the class of 1959. For many years, she worked as an office manager for Dr. Robitaille in La Porte City. She was united in marriage to William Bobzien on June 27, 1992.
She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Porte City, the Moose Lodge No. 328 in Washburn and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 57 in Vinton. Carole Anne also was an active supporter of the Kidney Foundation and served as a member of the Business and
Professional Women's Club and the La Porte City School Board.
In addition to her husband, William of La Porte City, she is survived by her daughter, Katherine (Ken) Konz of Coralville; her sons, Terry (Bev) Wellner of Marion, Neil (Kim) Wellner of
DeWitt and Jarrod Wellner of La Porte City; her stepsons, Ronnie Wellner of La Porte City, Michael Bobzien and Philip Bobzien, both of Cedar
Rapids, and Tim Bobzien
of Luzerne; and her stepdaughters, Diana Bobzien of Faribault, Minn., Susan Bobzien of
Cedar Rapids and Debbie (Ronnie) Grimes of Garland, Texas.
She is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Carole Anne was preceded in death by her parents and second husband, Ralph Wellner.
