CAROL THARP
Marion
Carol Tharp, 80, of Marion, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2021, at St. Luke's Hospital, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 5, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, starting at
10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Pastor Phil Jorgensen will officiate, and Internment will follow at Cedar Memorial Garden of Eternal Love.
Carol was born to Arthur and Florence (Miller) Severin on Dec. 17, 1940, in Keystone, Iowa.
She moved to Cedar Rapids after graduating from High School to work at the Telephone Co. She soon met and married her husband Jerry (Gerald) and they married on Sept. 20, 1959. Carol loved to shop and decorate. She had a very special knack of putting "her touch" on a room, when she left -- you always knew she had been there. One of her favorite things to do was to go out to eat and she enjoyed every moment spent with her family.
She has been an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church for 53 years where she participated in Lay Ministry (Parish & Staff) and, most recently, the Fellowship Ministry.
Preceding her in death are her parents; brothers, Don, Jim, Dick and Bill; and grandson, Connor.
Survivors include her loving husband of 61 years, Jerry; daughter, Therese (Jim) of Marion; sons, Todd (Angela) of Ames and Jamie (Staci) of Weatherford, Texas; and grandchildren, Hannah, Brett, Mason, Abby and Sadie – all who she loved dearly!
The family would like to thank Dr. Beard and the staff at St. Luke's for their overwhelming compassion while Mom was in your care – you are truly the best!!
Love you Mom!!
