Carol Lea Bryant, 79 of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Aug. 28, 2023, after a long illness at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Celebration of Life Service: 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023, at the Moose Lodge.
Carol is survived by her husband Steve; four children, Jeff Bevauns, Shelli (Ross) Jessen, Angela (Scott) Harlicker and Christopher (Lisa) Bryant; six grandchildren, Kelyn, Zach, Adam, Dylan, Kailey and Kaleb; four great-grandchildren, Boden, Miles, Kinley and Arisa; two sisters, Pat Graybill and Sandi Allen; brother in law Dick Bryant; sister-in-law Vernon (Jim) Gilchrist; many nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Reid.
Carol was born on April 29, 1944, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Fern Gaffney Hamblin. She married Steve Bryant on June 10, 1972, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Carol worked as a DHS caseworker for 20 years.
Carol enjoyed life and spent a lot of time laughing, dancing and listening to music, and spending time with friends, especially traveling with “the girls” to Lake Kapatogama during the summer for over 20 years. She was an animal lover and always looked forward to family gatherings over the holidays with the Gaffney and Hamblin families. Carol was a longtime member of SaPaDaPaSo and was a two-time president.
