Carol Jean Woodson, 79, of Marion, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021. Private Celebration of Life services will be at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Burial will
be Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 11, at Brosh Chapel. The family requests that everyone wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Carol was born Sept. 27, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Leonard and Lenora (Brokl) Trachta. She graduated from Marion High School. Carol was united in marriage Vince Woodson on Aug. 18, 1961, in Loveland, Colo. She worked at Hanstrom Hubley in Marion in her earlier years, and then farmed with her husband in rural Linn County for many years. Carol enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, helping people, and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her children, Barry Woodson of Marion, Valerie McCallister (Bob Bartley) of Marion and Vicki (Tony) Laird of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, Shane (Grace) McCallister, Tyler (Stephanie) Woodson, Cameron (Reanna) McCallister, Trent Laird, Tanner Woodson and Hannah Laird; three great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Cora Woodson and Smith McCallister; her sister, Joyce Liebe; and her niece and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vince; and her brother, Jim (Karen) Trachta.
Memorials may be directed to either Camp Courageous or Tanager Place in her name.
