Carol Hoyt, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, at the Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at All Saints Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. John R. Flaherty. Visitation will be one hour before Mass at the church. Burial: Campbell Cemetery, Bertram. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her stepchildren, Diane (Gary) Wade, Steven (Michele) Wirtz, Michael (Jan) Hoyt, Patrick (Melinda) Hoyt, Kenneth (Laurie) Hoyt, Bong Hoyt, Kathy (Allen) Trueblood and Johnna Meadows; brother, Donald (Sharon) Calkins; sisters, Dorothy Ritchart and Betty (Virgil) Roth; brother-in-law, Art Johnson; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Carol was born July 27, 1940, in Mallard, Iowa, the daughter of Delbert and Agnes (Jonas) Calkins. On June 21, 1986, she married John Hoyt in Marion. Carol worked as a bookkeeper for Bob Zimmerman Ford for 15 years. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and enjoyed working in the garden with her flowers, especially her roses.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Wirtz; husband, John Hoyt; sister, Darlene Johnson; and brother-in-law, Charles Ritchart.
Memorials: St. Jude's Children's Hospital or All Saints Catholic Church.
