Carol K. Hinton, 73, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at her home. Per Carol's request, there will be no public service. Inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include a son, Michael (Ruby) Koshatka; a daughter, Janelle (Doug Dawson) Koshatka, all of Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Joanne (John) Sharp of Decorah. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Andrew (Elizabeth), Casey (Jordan) and Alicia; and three great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Alexander and Matthew.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Wayne Koshatka; one sister; and two brothers.
Carol was born March 7, 1945, in Cresco, the daughter of Henry and Adeline Halweg. She married Byron Hinton on Sept. 28, 1971, in Rock Island, Ill. Byron passed away in 2001.
Carol worked as a bartender at the Blue Collar Lounge for many years. She enjoyed working puzzles, playing computer games, crafts and was noted for being a great cook. Carol will be forever remembered as a wonderful and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
