Carol Ellen Wagenfield, 88, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at UnityPoint Health St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Burial will be at a later date.
Carol was born January 11, 1936, in Edgewood, Iowa, daughter to Frank and Edna (White) Tilp. Carol went to Coe College in Cedar Rapids and transferred to Teacher’s State College in Cedar Falls where she graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in teaching. She married Quentin Wagenfield on August 12, 1961, at First United Methodist in Marion, Iowa. She was a long-time member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. She worked as a schoolteacher and also a secretary for her church for many years.
Carol enjoyed gardening, flowers, birds, plants, antiques, biking, walking, hiking, and traveling with her late husband, Quentin. She also enjoyed playing the piano and organ, and watching Iowa Basketball. She was very friendly and loved spending time with her family.
Carol is survived by her nieces and nephews, David Church, Ellen (David Shactman) Wright, Martha Church, Frank Wright, Don (Kathryn) Church, and Thomas (Lorrie) Wright; great-nieces and -nephews, Brian (Katie) Shactman, Rachel Church, Aaron (Samantha) Church, Brian (Julie) Church, Jonathan (Lindsey) Church, Kaitlin (Kyle) Wepler, Sean Wright, Colin Wright, and Leilah (Reval) Wright-Medina; and many other loving family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Quentin Wagenfield; sister, Beverly Wright; sister-in-law, Ellen Church; and nieces, Margaret Ray and Cheryl Church.
