Carol Elaine (Airy) Davis, 80, of Vinton, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2019, at the Vinton Lutheran Nursing Home in Vinton. In agreement with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Carol's life will be held at 2 p.m. on her 81st birthday, Sunday, April 7, 2019, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, Iowa, with the Rev. Peter Mitchell officiating. The family will greet friends and family from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Sunday before the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Carol was born April 7, 1938, in Winterset, Iowa, the daughter of Loren and Verna (Smith) Airy. She was a graduate of Marion High School. In January of 1956, at the age of 17, Carol was involved in a serious car accident which left her disabled. She spent much of her life in care facilities, but was never forgotten. Carol will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Carol is survived and lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law, Linda Airy of Robins, Iowa; brother, John (Jan) Airy of Alburnett, Iowa; two nieces, Michelle Tegeler (Greg Hutchinson) and Shelby Airy, both of Cedar Rapids; three nephews, Vaughn (Ruthann) Airy of Kansas City, Kan., and John N. (Brevity) Airy and Bryce (Heather) Airy, both of Alburnett; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Loren and Verna Airy; sister, Karen Airy, at infancy; and brother, Phil Airy.
