CAROL JEAN (LAND) BANTZ

Carol Jean (Land) Bantz was born Dec. 19, 1946, to Thomas and Sue Land of Ripley, Tenn. Carol passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018, surrounded by family.
Carol met her husband, John "Jack" Bantz, in Long Beach, Calif., where he was stationed in the U.S. Navy. They were married on Aug. 14, 1965. Two sons were born from their union, John (Julie) Bantz of Indianola and Joe (Laura) Bantz of Cedar Rapids. The couple also have two grandchildren, Cameron and Bradyn.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Terry Land, David Land and Patsy (Hugh) Vaughan; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Mayhew and Betty Climer.
Carol is survived by her husband, John "Jack;" sons, John and Joe; grandsons, Cameron and Bradyn; as well as her siblings, James (Doris) Land, Jeff (Patsy) Land, Donna Biggs, Tammy (Thomas Hankins) Land and Teresa White, all of Tennessee. Carol also is survived by her brothers-in-law, Bob (Irene) Bantz of East Farmington, Wis., and Marlyn Mayhew of Vinton; sisters-in-law, Kathy (David) Demulling of Osceola, Wis., Carol (Dale) Larimer of Cedar Rapids and Laura (Loren) Wood of Vinton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Carol worked at the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School as well as at REM in Vinton. Carol worked as a full-time caregiver until her health forced her to retire in December 2017.
Carol was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who very much enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She particularly enjoyed the time spent with her grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at Phillips Family Center, 605 Second Ave., Vinton, with a private internment to be held at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
