Carol Ann (Scovill) Muenzenmeyer, 68, of Marion, Iowa, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022. A visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Carol was born Feb. 28, 1954, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Shirley (Proffitt) and Robert Scovill. She grew up in the Marshalltown area with her six siblings. Carol was united in marriage to David Spencer and they had two children together. They later divorced and Carol was united in marriage in 1990 to Everett “Gene” Muenzenmeyer, adding three stepsons to her family. Carol also raised her two younger sisters, Debbie and Penny, after their mom’s death. Carol started working as a nurse aide in care centers, including the Iowa Veterans Home in the '70s and '80s while raising her family. She attended Marshalltown Community College and then graduated from Kirkwood Community College in 1995, with a diploma in practical nursing and she became an LPN. She returned to Kirkwood, graduating in 1996 with an Associate of Applied Science degree and became a registered nurse. Carol continued to work in care centers in Cedar Rapids as well as at St. Luke’s Hospital until she retired.
Carol enjoyed spending time with her family, camping in the summer and sewing during the winter months. She created many stuffed bunnies, blankets and other cherished items for her family and friends. She loved to collect angels. She was an Elvis fan and spent much time watching crime reality shows and politics on TV. Carol was the self-proclaimed “Queen” of the family.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Shirley Scovill; her husband, Everett Eugene Muenzenmeyer; her stepson, Mark Muenzenmeyer; and her sister, Gloria Jean Scovill.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Carrie (Mike) Motto and Robby (Rory) Spencer; stepsons, Brian (Shannon) Muenzenmeyer and Brent (Patty) Muenzenmeyer; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; siblings, Peggy (Bobby) Washington, John (Gleda) Scovill, Joe (April) Scovill, Debbie (Robb) Peck and Penny Scovill-Wise; as well as many nieces and nephews.
