Carol A. Syring, 88, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2022, at the Clarence Nursing Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Clarence, with the Rev. Matt Schneider-Adams officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in the Clarence Cemetery.
Carol was born on May 17, 1934, to Kenneth and Ann (Borchers) Rorick in Wilton, Iowa. She married Wayne Syring on Aug. 3, 1951, in Tipton. Wayne passed away on May 5, 2016.
Carol is survived by her children, K.C. (Jill) of Clarence and Karen (Cliff) Klouda of Cedar Rapids; daughter in-law, Marcia Syring of Clarence; grandchildren, Lori Nelson, Scott (Lisa) Syring, Stan (Heather) Syring, Brian (Joanne) Lilienthal, Amy (Jeremy Huff) Graham, Jason (Megan) Lilienthal, Jenny (Andrew) Clark and Lori (Dan) Nelson; 12 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jim (Marsha) Rorick of Big Rock, Gaylon (Susan) Rorick of Davenport and Judy (Gary) Steffens of Calamus. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Al; and sisters, Janet Jones and her husband, Don, Nancy Rorick and Pat Meyer.
Carol graduated from Wheatland High School and is a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Clarence. Through her years she had worked for B & K in Clarence for eight years and was a bookkeeper for Hasenbank Feed Service for 19 years. Carol was a quiet person that volunteered a lot and enjoyed playing cards.
