Carney, Joe A.
Joe A. Carney, 58, of Iowa City, died Friday, July 24, 2009, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, following a brief illness. Memorial Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Williamsburg. Inurnment: St. Joseph's Cemetery, Parnell. The family will receive friends after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by two daughters, Candace Tarr (Jason) of Beacon, and Margo Breeden (Jamie) of Grinnell; six grandchildren and a great grandchild; a brother, Terry Carney (Antonette) of Deltona, Fla., and a sister, Margaret "Meg" Wille (Laverne) of Belle Plaine. Also surviving are two biological brothers and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Smith.
