Carmen Marie Fields
Cedar Rapids
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of a free spirit, Carmen Fields.
Carmen was fiercely independent and resilient. She kept a positive attitude despite any trials and tribulations she encountered in life. She knew what she liked and was honest and true to heart. She was relentlessly loyal and wanted the best for the world and everyone she met. Carmen was sassy and full of love, always making people laugh.
Carmen grew up in the ’60s; she loved her fringed attire, Harley Davidson, and music of the era. She was very creative and loved cross-stitch, crossword puzzles, and cooking. She loved dancing, watching movies, and spending time with her family and friends.
Carmen was reunited with her father in heaven, John Fields. She will be forever remembered and appreciated by her daughter, Myriah Fields (Tim Dahlstrom); her mother, Dorothy Fields, sisters Valerie Hayes (Jim Greene), Christine Schulte and Vicki Fields, three nieces, a nephew, and six grand-nieces and -nephews. Along with countless beloved friends.
Carmen would ask us all to celebrate life. For those who wish to honor Carmen, make a toast in her name, get in a little trouble, and never say "Goodbye".... instead say "I'll see you smiling in heaven". Remember we were all "Born to be wild".
We want to thank the nurses, doctors and chaplain at Mercy Hospital for their care and kindness during Carmen's last hours on earth. We'd also like to express appreciation for Cedar Memorial, and give special acknowledgement to the many Social Service team members who gave her comfort and support for many years.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Carmen's honor on May 10th, 2025, at Big Grove Brewery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Please bring special memories and good cheer.
