Carmen V. Brown, 91, of Anamosa, formerly of Olin, passed away Friday, June 13, 2014, at Silvercrest in Anamosa. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Anamosa. Burial will be in the Olin Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at church.
Carmen Vey Zaruba was born Dec. 29, 1922, in Hale, Iowa, to parents, Frank and Esther (Nissen) Zaruba. She graduated from Olin Consolidated School and Cedar Rapids Paris Academy. She was united in marriage to Glenn Brown on July 24, 1949, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Olin.
Carmen was a hairdresser for 10 years and had worked with her husband on the farm for many years. She enjoyed needlework and golf.
She was a member of the Anamosa First Congregational United Church of Christ, bridge club, a 60-plus-year member of the Order of Eastern Star Peerless Chapter 435 of Oxford Junction and the Bowknot-Social Club.
She is survived by two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
parents and a brother,
Donald.
