CARMELETTA "CONNIE" IRENE (COVINGTON) LENTZ

Carmeletta "Connie" Irene (Covington) Lentz, 90, of Hiawatha, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at Bickford Cottage in Marion. In agreement with Connie's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A graveside service will follow at Dunkard Cemetery in Midway. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.
Connie was born Aug. 27, 1930, in Viola, Iowa, the daughter of Leroy and Leona (Gage) Covington. On Sept. 4, 1948, in Independence, Iowa, she was united in marriage to John L. Lentz. Connie was employed at Eddy Paper Factory in Cedar Rapids.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her four children, Katherine (Michael) Bailey of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Brad (Jerry) Baughman of Iowa City, Iowa, Sandra (Marios) Ignelis of Murrieta, Calif., and Lewis (Kim) Lentz of Vinton, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, Monica Niedert, Ryan Coleman, John Lentz, Jamie Hedges, Christian Whitmore, Michael Bailey, Alicia May, Nathan May, Alexander Ignelis, Nicholas Ignelis, Amy Lentz and Adam Lentz; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Ula Mae Carpenter; and four sisters-in-law, Pat Covington-Holub, Trudy Hagerty, Beverly Lentz and Sue Johnson.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Lentz; daughter, Becky Coleman; and son, John Lentz.
A Memorial Fund in Connie's memory has been established.
