Carla Wilson, 62, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023, at UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, at St. Luke Catholic Church, Hopkinton, with interment in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monticello. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where a Parish Vigil Service will be held at 4 p.m. On Monday visitation will resume after 9:30 a.m. at the church. Surviving are her two children, Wes (Kelly) Wilson and Whitney Wilson; three grandchildren, Myra, Wyatt and Mylo; her father, David Wilson; her siblings, Chris (Paul) Hartman, Carmen (Gene) Kracke, Craig (Jana) Wilson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother; and a sister, Colleen.
Carla Sue Wilson was born Aug. 18, 1961, at John Mc Donald Hospital, Monticello, IA. She was the daughter of David and Mary Alice Featherston, Wilson. Carla graduated from Maquoketa Valley High School in 1979. She started her working career bartending in Sand Springs and Hopkinton. She did a career change in the late ’90s when she started working at Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she was the Dietary Supervisor. In 2011 Carla started working at Polo Plastics in Monticello.
Carla regarded any time spent with family as the best time, especially with her grandchildren. She rarely missed any events with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She tried to be at every game her son Wes coached.
