Carla Sue Lyon, 73, of Coralville, Iowa, passed away on March 19, 2017, at Lantern Park Care Center, following an extended illness.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 25, at Gay & Ciha Funeral & Cremation Service, where there will be an hour of visitation prior to the services. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Coralville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Carla's memory to Coralville United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be sent for her family through the funeral home website.
Carla was born June 27, 1943, in Letts, Iowa, to Carl and Lois (Fowler) Hines. She was married to Thomas E. Lyon.
For a number of years, Carla was the owner and publisher of the Lone Tree Reporter, Solon Economist and the Johnson County Recorder. She was a member of the Coralville Methodist Church, and also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Jasmine chapter.
Carla is lovingly remembered by her children, Bryan (Cathy) Snyder of Wilton, Jeanette (Noble) Luke of Iowa City, David Snyder of Iowa City, and Tom's daughters, Jane Lee and Maureen Tubbs of Minnesota; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Crave Hines of Tennessee; brother-in-law, Larry Chapman of Illinois; and Larry Rowson of Coralville, who honored Carla with love, visits, cards, treats and flowers for decades, and was a loyal friend to her until the end.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom; sister, Claudia (Hines) Chapman; and grandsons, Brandon Snyder and Mick Snyder.
