Carl Thomas, 83, died Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa. Friends may register after 3 p.m. Interment will be in Forest Chapel Cemetery.

Surviving are a daughter, Deanna Thomas, Cedar Rapids; a granddaughter, Dawn (Wes) Leiser, Anamosa; two great-grandchildren, Athena (William) Anderson, Cedar Rapids, and Austin Leiser, Anamosa; a great-great-grandson, Aidiran Anderson; four sisters, Mary Smith, Cedar Rapids, Judy Beckett and Lorene Clark, both of Anamosa, and Gwendolyn Willard, Atalissa; and three brothers, Glenn of Martelle, Francis, Anamosa, and James, Hayden Lake, Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara; a son, Rick Lineweaver; a brother, Leon; two sisters, Betty and Naome; and an infant sister, Doris Mae.
Carl Edwin Thomas was born April 21, 1931, in Fairview, Iowa, the son of Clarence L. and Mattie F. Raymond Thomas. He attended Fairview Schools. Carl went on to serve in the United States Air Force and was a flight mechanic. Carl married Barbara Stoneking on Aug. 10, 1953. They later divorced but remarried in June 1981. Carl worked at the Anamosa Silo Co. and Gombert's Native Veneer and Monsanto in Anamosa.
