Carl William Siechert, 80, of Marion, died Friday, April 13, 2018, at Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 1 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2018, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A visitation will be held Sunday, April 15, 2018, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Carl was born Feb. 7, 1938, the son of William and Sylvia (Smith) Siechert, in Cedar Rapids. On Sept. 23, 1961, he was married to Karen Kay Saver. Carl worked as a mechanical designer for Rockwell Collins before retiring in 2002. In 2017, he and Karen became residents of Summit Pointe in Marion.
He was a skilled handyman and enjoyed many hobbies, including fishing, railroading, reading and bowling. Carl was a member of the Rose Society in Cedar Rapids. He had a great love of animals, especially his pets. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Siechert; two daughters, Tamara (Michael) Fensterman and Kimberly (Michael) Katalinich; and two granddaughters, Stephanie (Jake) Tjepkes and Rachel Fensterman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Mitchel Siechert.
