Carl "Russ" Blom, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, March 21, 2022, at his home.
A graveside service for both Russ and his wife, Judy, who died March 5, 2020, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 21, at Forest Cemetery, Oskaloosa. Teahen Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family.
Russ is survived by his brother, James Blom of Des Moines; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Verna Bowie of Runnells; brother-in-law, Tom Bowie of Newton; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy; his parents; and brother, Charles "Allen" Blom.
Russ was born Oct. 1, 1944, in Oskaloosa, the son of Carl and Lois Abrams Blom. He graduated from Newton High School in 1962, and went on to attend college at Northwest Missouri State University, graduating in 1967. On Sept. 6, 1964, he married Judy Elaine Bowie in Newton. He worked in AG credit, owned a Christmas tree farm, and was a farmer for several years.
Russ loved to travel with Judy. He enjoyed time spent gardening, fishing, golfing and bird watching. He loved music and animals; especially dogs. Russ was proud of his Dutch heritage.
Memorials may be directed to the family for an established memorial fund.
