In Loving Memory of Carl Owen Morning

Carl Owen Morning, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on 4-25-2025 at the age of 89. A man deeply rooted in love, family, and service, he leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and unwavering support.

A visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 4 to 7 PM. A funeral service will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 1 PM, with Pastor Steve Irwin officiating. Interment to follow at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery-Garden of Eternal Love.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Nancy Morning (Petsel). Together, they raised eight children and ran a warm and welcoming in-home daycare that touched the lives of many. His love for children, whether his own or those in his care, was a constant presence in his life.

A proud United States Marine, Carl served his country with honor for four years before continuing his career at Rockwell Collins. He was known as the family handyman, mechanic, and listening ear—always ready to help, fix, or comfort, no matter the hour.

He found great joy in nature and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Whether in the woods or by the water, he felt at peace and fully himself.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Wendy Dyer, son Daniel Dyer, his parents Carl and Mary Morning, his sisters Carleta Herzberger, Elizabeth DeWoody, Sonja Rice, and brother John Morning.

He is lovingly remembered by his children:

Pam Brammann (Jeff) and grandchildren Stephanie and Alex, Sandra Blackwolf (Steven) and grandchildren Christopher, Nicholas, and Joshua, Wendy Dyer (deceased) and grandchildren Natasha, Heather, and Brandon, Laura Kenneson (David) and grandchildren Erika, Dawson, and Amy, Kimberly Morning and grandchildren Micaylee Stumbo (fiancé Jared Young – son Owen), Dylan, and Ethan, Kellie Franklin (Douglas) and grandchildren Davonte, Kianna, and Anthony

Kerrie Merck (Bryan) and grandchildren Anya, Ayden, and Ireland.

He also leaves behind many great-grandchildren, his brother Stanley Morning, sister Joanne McBaine, and numerous cousins.

Carl will be remembered for his deep love of family, his generous spirit, and the countless ways he made life better for those around him. His presence will be profoundly missed and his memory cherished forever.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Oldorf Hospice House for all the love and support they showed Carl, while he was in their care.
