Carl “Leroy” Reber, 90, of Wayland, formerly of the Keota area, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2023, at the Washington County Hospital and Clinics.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, at the Washington Mennonite Church. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Washington Mennonite Church prior to the service on Monday. Burial will be at the Lower Deer Creek Cemetery near Wellman. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Crooked Creek Christian Camp. The service will be livestreamed on the Beatty-Peterseim YouTube channel. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Leroy was born March 29, 1933, in rural Wellman, Iowa, the son of John H. and Anna (Beer) Reber. He graduated from Sigourney High School in 1952.
He farmed, was a mechanic with Strohman’s Implement and retired from over 25 years at Crop Production Service’s in Keota. He was a member of the Washington Mennonite Church and volunteered countless hours at Crook Creek Christian Camp. He enjoyed fishing a lot!
Survivors include sons, Jeff (Robbin) Reber of Lanesville, Ind., and Michael (Sue) Reber of Madison, Wis.; sisters, Mabel (Jr.) Fisher of Sigourney, Iowa, and Anna May Reber of Sigourney, Iowa; and grandchildren, Carlyn (Dane) Adamson, Madelyn Reber and Seth Reber.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Howard and John; and sister, Maxine Peiffer.
