Carl Kruse, 71, died Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids with his family by his side.
A Celebration of Life service will be held, 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where friends may call from 1 to 2:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Surviving is his wife, Kris; his children, Chad (Rebecca) Kruse, Heather (Darnell Granberry) Kruse, Christopher (Anna) Taylor, Tommy (Krystle) Breashears and Jonnie Breashears; 11 grandchildren, Darnell Jr., Griffin, Evan, Jordyn, Ellie, Ian, Claire, Izzy, Cole, Stella and Scarlett; and his siblings, Doris (Tony) Wagner, Ron (Pat), Gary (Jan), Dennis (Laurie) and Tom (Gail) Nancy (Glenn) Kruse.
He was preceded by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Randy.
Carl Joseph Kruse was born in Mercy Hospital, Dubuque, on Dec. 22, 1951. He was the son of Laverne and Irene Bildstein, Kruse. Carl graduated from Dyersville Beckman in 1970. He worked for several years for Krapfl Construction, and then started his own carpet cleaning company based in Worthington. Carl married Kris Taylor Breashears on Aug. 1, 1998, at Monticello, Iowa. He later moved his business to Monticello.
Carl enjoyed coaching Little League, playing fast-pitch softball, golfing, bowling and especially fishing. His favorite activity was spending time with Kris, his kids and grandkids.
