CARL BROSE Cedar Rapids Carl A. Brose, 90, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully after a long illness Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Crema-tion Service, Cedar Rapids, conducted by the Rev. Dan Clark-Bridges. Family will greet friends from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Survivors include his children, Shirley McMahon, Geraldine Spoo, Mary Bernauer, Teresa Dickson and Junie Hackett; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and siblings, Johanna Goyer, Rosie Berger and Clara Dye. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and son, Bill Elliott. Carl was born Dec. 14, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, son of William and Olive (St. Martin) Brose. He married Leora Candler on April 18, 1953. She later passed away in 2008. Carl loved his family and being around people. He enjoyed working, fishing, reading, playing games on the computer, going to church at Hope Lutheran and listening to Czech music. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
