Carder, Bruce Leon
Bruce Leon Carder, 59, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, June 15, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, at New Covenant Bible Church, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Pastor Bob Westfall and Chaplain Dan Hoeger. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Carder of Cedar Rapids; children, Clayton Carder, Stephanie Carder, and Ericah Carder, all of Clinton, Iowa; stepdaughter, Michelle Knox of Racine, Wis.; four grandchildren, Hailei Pettit, Dakota Pettit, James Ansell and Revah Carder; father, Keith Carder of Clinton; and siblings, Loretta (Phil) Coppess of Clinton, Brenda (Everett) O'Shogay of Cedar Rapids, Pam (Chris) Reedy of Andover, James Carder of Sabula and Kelly (AJ) Carder of Clinton.
He was preceded in death by his mother; two brothers, John and Kent Carder; and stepdaughter, Shauna Sharp.
Bruce was born Dec. 8, 1953, in Clinton, Iowa, son of Keith and Shirley (Eickert) Carder. He was united in marriage to Vivian Ballard on Nov. 13, 2004, at the Little Brown Church. Bruce served in the United States Army. Bruce was the novice Golden Gloves, 118 pound class champion in 1971. He was employed at Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center and at Perkins Restaurant and Bakery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
