Capper, Jack M.
Jack M. Capper, 81, of 1320 Litchfield Dr., Hiawatha, (formerly of 825 Fourth St. SW, Cedar Rapids) died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009. Funeral services, with military honors, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Jack Kendall will officiate. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion. Visitation: 5 to 7 tonight at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his children, Judy (Michael) Sisco of Cedar Rapids, Elsie (Robert) Armstrong of Cedar Rapids, Donald (Sheral) Irons of Marion, Robert (Ellen) Irons of Marion, Diana Byrum of San Antonio, Texas, and Lois Algueseva of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Earl (Helen) Capper of Chicago; a sister, Betty Allen of Des Moines; 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois; brothers, John, Bernard and Pearl; a sister, Shirley; and a son, Marvin Wilson.
Jack was born Jan. 3, 1928, at Knoxville, Iowa, to David and Fern Jones Capper. He married Lois Andrews on Aug. 30, 1952. She died March 7, 2004. He was employed by the streets department for the City of Cedar Rapids for several years, retiring in 1993. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, and had a great sense of humor. His greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren.
