Darlene was born July 16, 1939, in Martelle, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond and Frances Luella Massiker Jayne. She was a graduate of Morley High School. Darlene married Leland Austin on March 22, 1960, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. On Dec. 21, 1996, Darlene married Bert Canfield. She worked as a repair technician at Rockwell Collins for over 30 years. Before retirement she was a member of the Fairbank Red Hats Club, active at the Dunkerton First Baptist Church and was presently attending the Morley Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with Bert. This last year Bert had been at the Ravenwood Care Center in Waterloo and Darlene would visit him 4 to 5 times a week or as much as she physically could.
