CALVIN EARL STRUCHEN

Calvin Earl Struchen, 77, of Toddville, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018, at his home. A Parish Vigil Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. A visitation will follow the vigil service until 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Hiawatha. The family will also greet friends one hour prior to Mass at the church on Monday. Following Mass, a luncheon will be held at the church. The family requests that attendees wear camo/outdoors attire. After services, Calvin's body will be transferred to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program.
Calvin was born June 2, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Earl and Betty (Thomas) Struchen. He graduated from Center Point High School and on Aug. 26, 1972, in Hiawatha, he was united in marriage to Catherine Anne Corkery. Calvin was employed at Rockwell Collins, LinkBelt and Rockwell Goss as a welder. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Waltonian Archers of Linn County, Archery in the Schools, Iowa Bowhunters Association and White Tails Unlimited. Calvin was an avid hunter, fisherman, mushroom hunter and wine maker. He also was a responsible casino patron.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Struchen of Toddville; children, Deborahsue Elizabeth Struchen (Jarrod Fryhling) of Mesa, Ariz., Brian (LeAnn) Struchen of Marion, Michelle (Paul) Simonsen of Cedar Rapids and Tammy (Shaun) Elias of Ely; grandchildren, Sebastian Struchen, Eon Struchen, Zane Simonsen, Ruby Simonsen, Presley Elias and Jaxon Elias; and a sister, Linda Robbins.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Tom Struchen.
