Summerfield, Fla.
Calvin D. "Cal" Mook, born on Sept. 16, 1942, in Lincoln, Neb., to the late Donald and Jeanne (Horn) Mook. He passed away peacefully at age 76 on Jan. 21, 2019, at the Tom & Diane Brandley House (hospice) in Summerfield, Fla. Cal graduated from Lincoln High School in 1960, and from 1961 to 1965 he served in the U.S. Navy as a corpsman. From 1965 to 1970, Cal was a police officer with the Lincoln Police Department in Lincoln, Neb. He then had a great career in the insurance industry and retired from United Fire and Casualty as a marketing manager in 2009.
He enjoyed taking long walks and talking with family members. He was a Marion County sheriff's volunteer citizen patrolman, deacon at North Lake Presbyterian Church, and was a member of the American Legion.
Cal was the loving husband of Karen (Anderson) Mook, his wife of 55 years. He is survived by his son, Kevin and Marilyn Mook of Avon, Ind.; daughter, Kelly Jack of Lincoln, Neb.; sisters, Sandra and (Jerry) West of Platte City, Mo., and Donna Tyler of Bellevue, Neb.; and grandchildren, Donald Mook, Nash Jack and Maya Jack.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Cal's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 are welcome and appreciated.
A Celebration of Life will be private.
