C.W. "BILL" PHILLIPS

C.W. "Bill" Phillips, 95, of Iowa City, died peacefully on Monday, July 9, 2018, at Solon Nursing Care Center surrounded by family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 14, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Iowa City, with the Very Rev. Rudolph T. Juarez officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Iowa City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, St. Patrick Catholic Church or Iowa City Hospice
Bill was born July 11, 1922, in Iowa City, the son of Thomas and Ruth (Smith) Phillips. He was united in marriage to Florence Nolan in Iowa City. She preceded him in death on Feb. 23, 2018.
Bill lived on the same farm his entire life. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Eagles. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his two sons, Allan (Linda) Phillips of West Branch and Dale Phillips of Solon; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Florence; son, Curt; and grandson, Brian.
