C. Craig Brandon, 67, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, after a long battle with lung cancer at his home. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, at the Cedar Valley Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, Cedar Rapids. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, Iowa is assisting the family.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Brandon of Cedar Rapids; children, Jae (Maria) Brandon of Fredericksburg and Aaron (Cassie) Brandon of Wallkill, N.Y.; and sister, Jackie (Mark) Zobac of Vinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jeanne Ann Brandon.
Craig was born Jan. 13, 1948, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Charles and Carolyn (Uhlenberg) Brandon. He graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids and later attended Upper Iowa College. On Feb. 17, 1968, Craig married Becky Roberts in Cedar Rapids.
Craig was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served in Germany during the Vietnam War. Upon his discharge, he returned to Cedar Rapids and later moved to Baltimore, where he worked at Chesapeake Refrigeration for 10 years. In 1982, he returned to Cedar Rapids where he worked at Modern Piping. Craig started Ace Refrigeration with Dennis Bland in 1985. He later sold the business to his son, Jae, and partners. Craig was a beloved elder in the Cedar Valley Congregation. He also volunteered for six months at the United States Branch of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Wallkill, N.Y. Craig was an avid Canadian fisherman and loved to golf.
