Bys, Diane Marie
Diane Marie Bys, 58, of Shueyville, passed away surrounded by her family on Oct. 1, 2013, from angiosarcoma. Visitation will be at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Friday. Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Brosh Chapel.
Diane was the first born child to Richard and Mildred (Pospisil) Kuda, born March 27, 1955, in Cedar Rapids. Diane married James Bys on Aug. 28, 1970, in Cedar Rapids. They made their home in Shueyville with their daughter, Terri, and son, Matthew.
Diane was active member of the Swisher American Legion Auxiliary and W.I.L.O.S. She was the Shueyville City Clerk, Jefferson Township Clerk and Shueyville Cemetery treasurer, as well as working at Prochaska Nursery.
Diane was preceded in death by her father, Richard Kuda; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; parents, Millie and Don Miller of Swisher; her daughter, Terri (Richard Braden) of Cedar Rapids; her son, Matthew (David Kertes) of Santa Clara, Calif.; loving Babi to Dillon and Grace Braden and Sebastian Kertes-Bys; her sisters, Lynn (Steve Mallicoat) of Solon, Nancy Brown of Atkins, Debie (Stuart Towe) of Norway and Kristi (Shawn Nove) of Fairfax; as well as her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to honor Diane and may be sent in care of Terri Braden at 5665 W. Mustang Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52411.
