Byron Lester Hensch of Poteet, Texas, passed away at home early Friday morning, Oct. 8, 2021, with his wife and children at his side, after a long battle with complications caused by cancer.
Byron was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to the late Robert and Mary Hensch. He was a loving and faithful husband of 66 years to
Rosalie who is still living in Poteet. He was also a dedicated and loving father to their three children: Scott Alan Hensch of Selma, Texas, Dawn Hensch Snow of Myrtle, Mo., and Dana Hensch Owens of Boerne, Texas. He was a loving grandfather to five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was a structural engineer in San Antonio from 1960 to 2006. A long-time amateur photographer, he also owned a photographic supply store and gallery with a professional darkroom on Broadway and taught darkroom procedure at the Southwest Craft Center in the 1970s.
He was admired for his quick wit, sharp intellect and talents. He is and always will be loved.
Services will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at Camero Funeral Home in Von Ormy, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local spay and neuter animal clinic in his name.
